When Little Norsok was seven years old, he accompanied her mother to visit the Patriarch Nhangon. When passing through the Gazang Temple, he witnessed a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, to which the merits of paying homage stand equal to Jowo Lhakang in the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, appear in front of him in a form of three Sambhogakaya statues side by side. Little Norsok recalled that this was the very first sign that his Karma with the Buddha had ever matured. The maturity of this Karma prompted Little Norsok’s determination to study Buddhism to ignite like a swirling flame.

When he later met the Patriarch Nhangon, the accomplished Lama declared, “Ah! Ah! Say that empowerments are due today! Say that a lot of empowerments are predestined to happen today!” Then he took out a small wooden stick, placed it on the top of Rinpoche’s head, and said, “Ah! Ah! Say that he had received the empowerments! Say that he had received many empowerments!” Rinpoche was profoundly blessed by the empowerments and the lineage of the Yidam. When they were about to walk down the hill, the Patriarch warned, “Ah! Ah! You can’t stay in the Deguo Village tonight.” Instead, the Patriarch asked Rinpoche to stay in the seclusion cave where he himself attained enlightenment. He also disclosed to Rinpoche many prophecies that should never be easily spoken about, acknowledging that he would send Palden Lhamo, Glorious Goddess, to safeguard him. In the end, the Patriarch also told Rinpoche many Vajra words that were difficult to understand at the time, along with empowerments of the lineage of the Yidam.

In the year of 1946, Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, the Second Incarnation of Manjushri, bestowed blessings and empowerments upon the pleading of all villagers in the Kotao Village. At that time, Little Norsok and his mother also went there to seek the sacred Dharma. Eventually, with great joy, they obtained the empowerment as well as the blessings by the Mandala and other ritual instruments as they wished. And this marks Rinpoche’s attainment of permission to further his exploration with Mahamudra in future.
